My last blog covered the Muslim terrorist attack that took place at Fort Hood, Texas, the Muslim terrorist attacks on our U.S. embassy, and the Boston marathon massacre that was committed by two Islamic terrorists. There were other attacks but, I left them out because Obama’s War on Terror speech mentioned “large scale attacks”.
Now, I read in today’s Washington Times, an article about a speech Obama delivered at the National Defense University where he asserted that the “scale of the threat” from Islamic terrorists has reverted to pre-Sept. 11, 2001, levels. This is an outright lie. (I know, not another one.) The scale of the threat today is greater than ever. All one has to do is read what recently happened In Boston, Stockholm and London to realize the war on terror is larger than ever.
The Heritage Foundation which has been cataloging foiled terrorist attacks post-9/11 by Islamic groups stated that 54 attempts have been foiled. Before the Boston Marathon bombing, the U.S. was the target of at least five Muslim attacks since 2009 (two of which succeeded) whose plots went undetected by the FBI or CIA.
Regarding the speech, Steven Emerson, whose Investigative Project on Terrorism tracks radical Islam said, “This is a total fabrication. The ‘scale of this threat in the 1990’s never closely resembled the terrorist attacks post-9/11.” James Carafano, a military analyst at Heritage, added that the 1990’s numbers “were a fraction of that.”
Obama lying about this scares me. Not because of the lie but because, I feel he is living in an alternate universe. He continues to come out publicly with his perspective on something that is, at best, totally a misread of facts. He may want to believe that he is responsible for eliminating (or significantly reducing) terrorism risks to our country and citizens abroad, but that does not make it reality.
Obama declared an end to the United States global campaign against terrorism. Saying that the U.S. would focus on individual cells, he stated, “As we shape our response, we have to recognize that the scale of this threat closely resembles the types of attacks we faced before 9/ 11”.
To him and my fellow Americans, I say “wake up!” The scale of threat from them is larger and greater than what happened in the 1990’s. These barbarians are in more countries now than ever before. Recently, these animals set a school on fire in Stockholm, hacked a soldier with a meat cleaver in broad daylight in London and used pressure cookers filled with nails and ball bearings that killed and injured our children.
I agree with the terrorism analysts that rebutted Obama’s assertion that the “scale of the threat” from Islamic terrorists has reverted to pre-Sept. 11, 2001 levels. The long war on terrorism is far from over. But, I am not someone with an agenda to run, a narrative to maintain or a legacy to save – like Obama.
